Incredibles 2 Too started with a simple idea: what if I rewrote Incredibles 2, but good? What if it were 2013 again and Pixar approached ME to conceptualize the 14-years-in-the-making follow up to the critically acclaimed cult classic animated film The Incredibles? How would I expand on the lore of this world, push the characters in interesting new directions, explore the untapped potential laid out by one of cinema’s most compelling villains, and present a plot and character motivations that make logical internal sense?
From there, the concept evolved a bit, since there are some key differences between comics and film, and the fact that I’m not actually working under anyone means that I have the unique opportunity to tell a darker, more authentic story that doesn’t constrict itself to ‘what could work in a children’s film.’ So I’m not exactly trying to recreate a sequel film, but moreso just to follow from the events of the first film and provide a more satisfying evolution of that story, in the form of a webcomic.
I don’t necessarily feel that The Incredibles is a movie that needed a sequel, but the door was deliberately left open for a return and there was so much that could be expanded upon in the established lore without needing to introduce contrived new elements that somehow manage to simultaneously feel like bad reproductions of themselves.
“Incredibles 2 Too started with a simple idea: what if I rewrote Incredibles 2, but good?”
But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing new in this story! I took a careful look at every moving piece in the first film and thought hard about what kind of people and events could exist in the periphery of our character’s lives. There’s a lot in the first film that could have been more deeply explored or used to shine a light on what it means to be a superhero in this society, or to be someone who makes decisions about what those super-powered people are and aren’t allowed to do. I wanted to take the arcs of the characters in directions that feel unexpected without feeling entirely out of left field, and I wanted Dash to not earnestly attempt to murder a room full of people.
So that’s Incredibles 2 Too in a nutshell! I hope you enjoy and feel free to offer constructive criticism. This is my first attempt at a webcomic, and I want it to live up to everything it has the potential to be. We’re going to make something…. Incredible 🙂

FAQs
Q: As a storyboard artist, don’t you feel like you’re burning bridges with this project?
A: I made a vow to myself many years ago to never work at Disney or Pixar. It’s funny because in college working at Pixar was my DREAM… but then you grow up and you learn the seedy ways these companies have treated their minority staff and start to notice how Disney properties are about 2 decades behind most other animation studios in terms of their caution and discomfort around the idea of acknowledging that queer people exist. So as far as I’m concerned, Disney can continue their circle-jerk of corporate execs demanding their cookies every few years for their “queer firsts” that are only “firsts” if you shield your eyes to all the animated content being released around them, and which are executed with about as much self-awareness and grace in regards to what message they’re projecting within the historical context of queer people in film as monkeys with sledgehammers and a keyboard. They’ll just miss out on all the genius creators who are alienated by their hostility towards outliers. We’ll happily take our queer stories (and the money from the clamoring demand for them) to other studios that appreciate our authentic selves.
Q: Are you worried about being sued or getting sent a cease and desist by Disney?
A: This is purely a work of fanfiction. I claim no intellectual ownership over the characters created by Pixar, and I make no attempt to profit off of this work. I am thinking of opening a patreon, but any profit I make there is money that goes directly towards supporting me as an artist, and is not directly related to this project. Pages will be posted as I finish them regardless of whether or not I am making any money from my audience.
